Home Cake Decorating Supply is Seattle's only store dedicated entirely to baking supplies — serving everyone from first-time cake makers to cottage bakers and pros. We're looking for 2 part-time team members to inspire customers to make and decorate their best holiday bakes!

We’re currently hiring for two fall & holiday temporary roles, beginning in mid-October and running through December 23, 2026. There’s potential to extend into an ongoing part-time role depending on business needs in 2027.

Part-Time Retail Clerk

Home Cake Decorating Supply | Maple Leaf, Seattle

What you'll do:

  • Delight customers with your knowledge of baking, decorating, and our supplies

  • Build personalized connections with our customers, enhancing their loyalty to Home Cake

  • Anticipate the needs of customers and our team with a readiness to answer questions, provide expert guidance, and keep the shop clean and well-stocked

  • Assist with staffing the register, pricing, restocking, and salesfloor organization an cleanliness

  • Support in-store events and workshops as needed

Who you are:

  • Genuinely curious about each customer’s baking projects and comfortable suggesting items that will help them be successful

  • Enjoy building relationships and delivering an exceptional shopping experience

  • Ready for some good problem solving, with the ability to juggle a few things at once

  • Naturally inclined toward ownership, accountability, and initiative

  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible 

  • Quick to pick up and use a point-of-sale system (Square)

  • Available 2-3 days/week, including at least one weekend day (Fri or Sat)

Additional Information:

  • Part-time, 5-15 hours/week, including at least one weekend day (Fri or Sat)

  • Pay: $22/hour

  • Schedule set 1–2 weeks in advance

  • Employee discount 20% on store merchandise

  • Friendly, customer-first attitude — retail or customer service experience a plus

  • This role requires frequent standing and walking throughout the shop, bending and reaching, and occasionally carrying merchandise and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs.

  • General baking and cake decorating knowledge is required
